I had my hospital appointment last thursday and it went very well :) my blood test and chlamydia test came back normal. The consultant told Thomas that his sperm count was exceptionally high and sperm activity was 70% we were both very pleased about this and Thomas couldn't stop grinning lol. when i picked up on this the consultant said it was a man thing hehe. I now have a new nickname for Thomas it is (super sperm) lol.
Because the consultant was happy with the results and said he is 100% sure that we will conceive naturally he gave us the option of further treatment though he did advise us not to go down the ivf route just yet as we are still both young and as we are only entitled to one shot at it on the NHS he said it would cause a lot of heartache if it didn't work first time. He said we should use it as a last resort if we get say three to four years down the line and still haven't conceived.
Next Steps-
The consultant recommended that i have an operation called a Laparoscopy and dye test (Read more here) So this is what is going to happen next, The consultant said i should have the operation within 3-4 months, before the operation i have to go for a pre checkup and he would also like to scan my ovaries. also the nurse said that some women who have had this op done fall pregnant as a result.
From our appointment today we have both came away from it feeling very positive and to have such a nice and funny consultant is a bonus.
Thank you for reading my post on our journey xx
Hi Kirsty, I'm in Australia and came across your blog via Beauty Broadcast. I was the same age as you when my hubby and I started trying as well. A year later with nothing happening we started sought help - 2 years later we finally fell pregnant. I also had to have a laparoscopy and dye test, but they also had to do that to remove all the endometriosis growing on my ovaries and bowel (one ovary was completely strangled - I actually had no idea I had endo either) Not to scare you but the lap and dye test is painful afterwards, you get a lot of (whats called) shoulder tip pain - all the air they put in your tummy to have a proper look around. My advice afterwards is lots of cold juice (juiceboxes) sitting partly elevated and a hot water bottle on your shoulder - the pain usually subsides overnight but it's still not nice. I have had 2 of them :( Good luck hun!
ReplyDeletethank you for taking the time to reply, The consultant did mention the shoulder pain and stuff the things us women have to go through :). did you have any symptoms of endometriosis as that what worries me that i could have it as i've always had very heavy and painful periods? did the Laparoscopy help you conceive?
